A Slow Loss

A Slow Loss

I remember when my father was bedridden over 30 years ago and I saw him slowly pass away. At that time I wondered if it was harder to watch someone I loved so much die slowly, or for him, who was physically suffering.

I was not aware at that time of all the scripture on healing, and in retrospect see that the enemy, satan, did not want him alive. He was an active evangelist; not on a circuit, but working as a barber.

He was a great example to me as he showed me how to die. On his deathbed when he could no longer talk, he pointed to letters and spelled out, “What will happen to the youth [in our local church]?” He had always worked with the young people and helped them out, being a mentor in many ways.

”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort, those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

II Corinthians 1:3,4  NKJV

“The thief [satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10  NKJV
