Do You Always Accept a Free Gift?

Do You Always Accept a Free Gift?

When we hear we have a free gift waiting for us to claim, our response is usually one of suspicion. We know the common phrase, “Nothing is free!” As a pleasant surprise I went to the pharmacy for my mom. She had received an offer in the mail for reduced prices on her prescriptions just by registering a number. The claim was that it was not insurance and she would never be billed. I asked the pharmacy if it was legitimate, and they said yes. I asked the question, “Who is paying for this?” I came to the conclusion that it must be drug companies when a non-generic drug is sold.

The bottom line is, when we receive a free gift, someone has paid for it in advance. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I have received many free things because He paid for them with His blood. I received eternal life when He came out of the grave alive and had victory over death. I received healing through the stripes He bore as they whipped Him exposing muscle. He became a curse so that I could be free of the curse. But, I had to accept the gift; open it and use it.

Accept this gift:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever (you can put your name here) believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16  NKJV

Accept this gift:

“…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness-by whose stripes you were healed.

I Peter 2:24  NKJV

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5  NKJV
