Cinco de Mayo

A friend of mine told me a story of how she was out with some of her Spanish friends the other day, and they were talking about Cinco de Mayo. She asked them when it was. They all looked at her with a comical look on their face and said, it is in the name.

As I pondered this funny exchange, what came to mind is the Greek word sozo.

Sozo means salvation. When we use the word Sozo, we are referring to the healing of the entire man, spirit, soul and body. It means to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, and make whole.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NKJV

It is truly in the name.

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 NKJV
