Empty Shelves

Empty Shelves

Have you ever been to a food store and the shelves were empty? That happened to me one time, and it made me realize how dependent I was on the store for the source of my food. It made me contemplate, who really is my source?

Jesus talks about provision in Matthew 6. He tells us, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (vs. 33) The “things” He is talking about are listed in the verses above; your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, your body, or what you will wear.

Then He asks a question. “Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” (vs.25) We should be concerned about our spiritual emptiness. Jesus is our spiritual bread.

“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’”  John 6:35  NKJV
