Help! I Have Too Many Afflictions

Help! I Have Too Many Afflictions

We see in the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul was bound without being given a reason. Then, the chief priests and elders said,”We have bound ourselves under a great oath that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul.” (Acts 23:14) Paul’s nephew happened to overhear and told Paul. Paul sent him to tell the commander. The young lad told him, “The Jews have agreed to ask that you bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though they were going to inquire more fully about him. But do not yield to them, for more than forty of them lie in wait for him, men who have bound themselves by an oath…and are now ready, waiting for the promise from you.” (vs. 20,21) The commander asked the boy to not tell anyone that he had spoken to him. The commander called two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen, and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at the third hour of the night. He had Paul escorted to Caesarea and kept in Herod’s Praetorium.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19  NKJV
