Loss of Parents

Loss of Parents

When my grandparents passed away, my mom made the comment, “I’m the last of the generations.” The loss of parents may make us feel like orphans. When our parents have been Godly mentors and our “go to” when having concerns, it is a great loss.

On the other hand, maybe our parents were people we could not look up to, or count on to be present. With a loss of parents in this situation we may find ourselves feeling guilty in some way, or in an unsettled state.

Our Lord Jesus, who may have lost the one who served as His earthly father to death while Jesus was still on this earth, can empathize with us. This is why He can comfort us in ways that only He can do. Jesus experienced every emotion that we have experienced while He was on this earth. We can look to the Comforter who is always faithful.

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Hebrews 4:15  NKJV

“For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”  Hebrews 2:18  NKJV
