Rain, Rain Go Away

Rain, Rain Go Away

When I was a young girl I would sing a song with the lyrics, “Rain, rain, go away, come back some other day.” Now as an adult I realize the importance of rain. Nothing grows without rain.

When we experience rain in our life, such as loss or trauma, it matures us in many ways. We can have more compassion for people when we have experienced the same pain as they have. We are able to reach out and let them know we understand the depth of despair they may be feeling.

But, the greatest comforter is Jesus. He has experienced all the trauma and pain that we will ever know. He was rejected by his brothers, and religious leaders, He was tortured, put to shame, experienced hunger, and any emotional pains we have ever experienced. That is the reason He can comfort and why He loves us so much.

“…who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”  II Corinthians 1:4  NKJV
